Obituary of John P. McGough
John P. McGough, age 79, of Wallingford, PA, formerly of Wilmington, DE, died Tuesday, November 4, 2014. John was a graduate of Central Catholic High School, Pittsburgh, PA. After high school, he entered the Benedictine Monastery at St. Vincent Archabbey in Latrobe, PA. He left the monastry prior to taking his final vows. After a tour with the U.S. Army, Mr. McGough continued his education. He holds a bachelor of philosophy degree from DePaul University, and a master's degree in psychology from Montclair University. His post graduate work was done at the New School for Social Research in New York City, NY.
John was the President of Volta Carmiel Limited, an American affiliate of an Israeli company, and the President and CEO of J.E. Rhoads and Sons, Wilmington, DE. He also was an Instructor at the University of Delaware of the Academy of Life Long Learning, where he taught courses on Sociology of Religion, Human Sexuality and Anti-Semitism and the Holocaust. He was a member of the Halina Wind Preston Holocaust Education Committee.
John has been to Israel twenty times and has visited the concentration camps of Auschwitz, Dachau, and Bergen-Belsen.
John was predeceased by his parents, the late Patrick J. and Adelean Skillen McGough; his brothers the late Patrick and his twin, the late Frank McGough.
