Obituary of Walter R. Benner, Sr.

Walter R. Benner, Sr., age 84, of Paoli, PA and Ocean City, NJ, and formerly of Newtown Square, PA, died Saturday, August 16, 2014. He was born and raised in Clifton Heights, PA. Walter was a 1949 graduate of Clifton Heights High School and a 1953 graduate of PA Military College (PMC). He had a distinguished military career. Walter was a principal owner in a large east coast painting firm, from 1956, until his retirement in 1995, at which time he joined his sons to establish Benner & Sons Inc. in Edgemont, PA. Walter was a member of the Church of the Savior and Springton Lake Presbyterian Church. Walter was an avid hunter, fisherman and outdoorsman. He was an Officer in Paradise Valley Gun Club, a member of Paddy Mountain Rod and Gun Club, Bachelors Barge Club and the NRA. He is the son of the late John H., Jr. and Ellen (Ryan) Benner and the brother of the late Richard Benner. Survivors: Devoted Wife: Peggy (McKean) Benner Sons: Walter R. Benner, III, (Betty) and Carl Benner, Sr. Sister: Mary Platt 22 Grandchildren 7 Great-Grandchildren Also survived by former wife, Roberta Benner, nieces and nephews
