Where do I even begin? I am so blessed and honored to have had Aunt Ellen as a HUGE part of my life. Growing up she was my second mom and throughout my life that continued. She taught me, shared with me, cared for me and loved a love no one could imagine. She was a happy, and fun person anyone who crossed paths in life should feel honored to have had that opportunity. I will miss her every day and will always cherish the amazing memories that we shared. The White Sands Swim club, Aston Pres, Disney trips, day trips and family functions, the memories go on and will go on with me forever. Aunt Ellen, I love you, and am so happy to have shared so many happy times with you. God truly received an angel, I love you.
Ellen's smile greeted me every morning. There was no better way to start a day. I am so grateful for Ellen's never ending support during my tenure. She was a sweet thoughtful person who I am proud to say was a meaningful part of my life! My hope is that one day I will be greeted again by that beautiful smile! My sincerest condolences to Don, Sherri, Lori, Holly and the entire family.

Dearest Ellen - Even though our meetings were brief and far apart,I will always remember what a kind, happy and gracious lady you were! The first memory I have of you is that you were always smiling. I immediately felt warmth when you entered a room. I am so very sorry that you had to be sick but you are now well again with our Lord in Heaven. We will all miss you so much but comfort comes from knowing we have another Angel to look after us. Peace be with you. Love, Debbie Conway Rash
Mrs. M was my children's very first teacher and a wonderful one. She was a loving, caring, beautiful woman and I will never forget the kindness she bestowed upon my family. My deepest sympathies to all of you. Janis Baldini

I have the honor of knowing Ellen since 1979, I was 15. She was always so loving, caring and nurturing. I have always admired the way she supported her husband and kids in everything that they did. As I got older, besides my own parents, I looked to she and Don as an example of how married couples should be and hoped that one day I would be blessed to have a relationship like that. After I moved from the area, I would stop by from time to time to say hi and she was always so warm and inviting asking what was going on in my life. I remember the last time that I saw her 11 years ago, 9/10/2001. I was in town and stopped over to say hi before making the two hour drive home. I was able to tell she and Don how much they influenced my life and how blessed I was to know them. The next day I learned how life can change on a dime so it is important to tell the people you love how you feel and I was glad that I had time with her. My heart breaks for all of you over this loss, but she will truly never die, because her influence in all of your lives will live on. My prayers and thoughts are with Don, Sherry, Lori and Holly and their families. You have all been truly blessed by Ellen’s life and it is one that should be celebrated.
Always looked for your big bright smile at the front desk, Ellen! Miss you.
Always looked for your big bright smile at the front desk, Ellen! Miss you.
Dear Don and Family,
In her early days as a classmate and throughout her life….whether you were fortunate enough to know her up close and personal….or just at a distance, Ellen was unmistakably a very special person with a unique and beautiful influence that proved indelible with everyone her life touched. A person, personality and lifestyle that bore witness to the real measure of depth of not only her love and dedication to family and friends, but to her deep and abiding faith.
We shall all remember and never forget that what in His Witness was birthed, shall never pass….the lesson and the legacy lives in those to whom she gave witness and sowed into. All that Ellen has given and shared with us will continue. Her gift to us and the message she has imparted to us is simple, but profound… GOD’s LOVE IS REAL AND HIS PROMISES ARE TRUE.
In this time of deep reflection, may you and your family be comforted by the outpouring of love, thought and prayer extended. And may the overwhelming assurance, promise and peace of our Heavenly Father be present with you all.

I knew Ellen since she was a young mother with infants. She gave me the chance to babysit for her and Don when she went back to work. Her husband is my uncle's brother. They were always friendly and full of joy.
Ellen was also a teacher at Aston Presbyterian nursery school when my daughters were little girls there. She was a warm, loving woman who was always full of friendliness and laughter. I can't believe she is gone. I will miss her.
There are no words to capture how much my mom meant to me and to my daughter Hayley, but what I can say is this: she was my cheering section and supporter throughout my life, and I would not be where I am today without her. I will never forget the conversation we had the day you went into Taylor Hospice, Mom, when we were reminiscing about some of the memories that dementia had not yet stolen from you. You remembered the huge, beautiful moon shining in the sky the night Hayley was born, and you remembered her beautiful little face the first time you saw her. It touched my heart that in spite of the disease that was affecting your mind, thiat memory was still so strong. it shows how much Hayley meant to you, and I hope you know how much you meant to her. One of the last things you whispered to me that day in hospice, which was one of the last days you were able to talk to us, was that you just wanted everyone to be happy. That comment was so typical of you, Mom. You made my world a happier place, and although right now it isn't so easy without you, I will try to honor your wish every time I smile.
We have had the proviledge of knowing "Aunt" Ellen since my sister and brother in law were married in 1991. Always unassuming, she was a true treasure to know. She was that candle burning brightly in any room she entered. She was kind and loving...a true gentle soul. It has been some time since we last saw her, but she was never out of our thoughts. Anyone who met her was a better person because of it. Please watch over your beautiful family and all of us...your friends... from heaven. You, of all people, surely went straight to Jesus. Wth our deepest sympathies to the Mercadante family.
Our prayers to the family. Remembering Ellen from CHS Class of 1961 and the many years she toiled with keeping our class reunions going. We knew of her long illness and thank God for sharing her with us. She is now resting with the Almighty. Be encouraged family.
To the Mercadante Family,Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
I am so sorry to hear of Ellen's passing. She will be very missed at our church. Please know that I am thinking about your family during this very difficult time.
