Obituary of Ruth Brusstar
Ruth Brusstar~December 27, 1929-September 1, 2024
Ruth E. Brusstar, formerly of Aston, passed away of natural causes at Lima Estates, Media, where she had been a resident since 2013. During her 94 years, Ruth had been a nurse, a homemaker and mother of four, married to the late Richard C. Brusstar; an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, and an avid Girl Scout volunteer. As a Girl Scout she served in a wide variety of roles, including as a troop leader, neighborhood chairman, camp director, national delegate and helped curate the archives and memorabilia of the Girl Scouts of Delaware County. For her dedication, she earned the Girl Scouts’ highest volunteer award, The Thanks Badge.
She enjoyed traveling, particularly family vacation trips, and more recently, travel with friends. She is survived by four children; Kent Brusstar (wife Mary) of Lancaster, Kathy Seiverd (husband Donald) of Lancaster, PA, Debra Weik of Newark, DE, and Sharon Wiles (husband Paul) of Highspire, PA. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Timothy Brusstar (wife Tara), Daniel Brusstar, Kristen Brusstar, Jennifer Scotti (husband Joseph), Kristoffer Seiverd (wife Ella), Taryn Seiverd, Danielle Seiverd, and Katie Weik; and seven great-grandchildren. She was the daughter of the late Edith Waltman, formerly of North Wales, PA, and grand-daughter of Idella Engard, formerly of Aldan, PA.
Visitation: Friday, September 6th after 10:00AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds. Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Funeral Service: Friday, September 6th at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
Interment: Philadelphia Memorial Park.
