Following my twin sister's entry, I too remember fragile blond hair and blue eyed Dot. She had a most unique cough for the little thing she was. Oh boy, did she love the Phillies- Robin Roberts and Richie Ashburn! How sad I did not get to see her when we moved from Lynchburg, VA to Calvary Fellowship Homes in Lancaster, PA! We will meet again in heaven where I am delighted to know that she will be there!
Last entry from Jean Strain Arnold was a late entry.
What a shock to know that Dot has passed away. I just looked her up this morning thinking that this week my husband and I would visit Essington this week and try and find Dot. Dot, my twin sister, Joanne Strain Alban and I ( Jean Strain Arnold ) all came from Essington to Prospect Park High School, and two years later we moved on to Interboro High School when it merged with Prospect park.
We traveled from afar on public transportation and walked that long hill for the next two years until we graduated in 1957 and went our separate ways. We followed each other through out Reunion bulletins and little did we know how she kept touch with us from afar as we both traveled as missionaries to South America.
One day 12 years ago I got a letter from Dot and our friendship was renewed and I corresponded with her by snail mail!! Hopefully my husband and I will be present at her memorial service. She was a pretty neat girlfriend as we all carried the title of Swamp Rats!! Jean Strain Arnold forbygrace55@gmail.com

Dear Nyssa, Sean, and family. I am so deeply sorry to hear that Dottie is gone. She was a true friend. Loving, honest, and always there when I needed "my second mom". She stood by me when I was at my lowest and we shared hours of good talks over tea and later when I moved away over the phone. Dottie always found the funny irony in life. We would scheme about serious problems like how to get the squirrel out of the house...and laugh hysterically. I will miss her dearly. Laura Hebeler
Dottie was a dear friend from many years ago, we were high school sweethearts and we were "going steady" as they used to call in those days in 1956-57. We reconnected again at the Interboro H.S. class of 1957 60th reunion in 2017. Dottie still had the same wit, intelligence and spirit she had all those years ago. It was such a pleasure to be reconnected and we've kept it up from long distance (me in Western New York) for the past four years. She has been one of my all time favorite people and I admire her in so many ways. She was totally honest, caring, strong willed, and above all, a basic character that I admire so much. She will be missed.
