Condolences
I just saw Bill's "In Memoriam" notice in Villanova Magazine.
My memory of Bill is his playing the saxophone in our band during high school. We had two guitars with Norm Kropp and myself, a trumpet player, and of course a drummer. One time we played an American Legion or VFW post in Lansdowne. A so called "feature" of our act was a 5 minute drum solo during which the other four members would go on break outdoors.I can't imagine that our parents' generation got any enjoyment from those noisy five minutes! Probably lots of rolling eyes. One of us took a cigarette break. Was it Bill or the trumpeter?
Bill was always a cheerful guy. We also crossed paths during our Villanova years, but not as band mates. The community probably thanked us. Years later my wife who was a speech therapist met Bill at the hospital in Springfield. She really liked him, of course.

My late husband Dave Kauffman and I became patients of Bill Purner's when we were in our 20s, shortly after he opened his practice with Dr. Jamali in the mid-1970s. Dr. Purner was a wonderful doctor who we depended on when my Dave started with heart and lung issues in his mid-forties. It was obvious that Dr. Purner had true empathy for Dave as he endured the symptoms of these health issues, and he did everything he could to help Dave find care appropriate to his needs. We remained patients of Dr. Purner's until he retired from private practice. Dave and I thought very highly of Dr. Purner and appreciated his kindness, sense of humor that helped us through some scary times, and caring manner. My condolences to you, his family. I am sure he has been welcomed into heaven with open arms. Diane Kauffman-Smith
I have many great memories of my dear cousin Bill. Always with a smile, he was quick witted, with a great sense of humor and always kind. I love you Cuz, God speed. Martha Jane Farra (my mom and his dad were siblings)
Aileen and family, I am very sorry for your loss!! I am here for you, if there is ANYTHING I can do, including listen a buy a couple rounds somewhere, xoxox
