Obituary of Doris B. Kaysen
Doris Beatrice Kaysen, loving mother and grandmother, of Springfield, PA., passed away peacefully at Granite Farms Estates on Monday, March 21, 2016. Doris was born on August 29, 1929, in Chicago, IL. daughter of the Reverend and Mrs. Edmund Lengefeld. On June 26, 1948, she married Kenneth Elmer Kaysen who preceded her in death on November 28, 1996.
Doris was a devoted Christian and member of the Springfield Baptist Church. She sang in the choir, taught Sunday School Classes, served as their Treasurer, and often delivered the Children’s Sermon.
A resident of Springfield since 1955, she was actively involved in her community, serving as deacon of her church and president of many community organizations. She belonged to the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club, the Woman’s Golf Club, and the Woman’s Bowling Club. In 2003, she was named Woman of the Year by the GFWC Junior Woman’s Club. Doris enjoyed her children, grandchildren, bowling, knitting, bridge, golf, and travelling.
Doris is survived by her four sons, Kai and wife Mimi Brunner of New Tripoli, PA., Gary and wife, Alexis of Media, PA., Scott and wife Vivian of Jefferson City, MO. and Brian and wife Bonnie of Seattle, WA; four grandchildren, Brianna, Stephanie, Ryan, and Stephen; and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers: Hartzell, John, and Douglas.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 7th at 10:30am at the Springfield Baptist Church, 184 N. Norwinden Drive, Springfield, PA to celebrate her life. Please join us for fellowship and refreshments after the service.
