Obituary of Mary Ann Smith

***CHANGE OF DATE*** Mary Ann Gmitter Smith, age 82, of Swarthmore, PA, died peacefully Sunday, January 17, 2016, in hospice, surrounded by her loving family. Mary was born in McAdoo, PA. Mary was a supervisor for Bell of Pennsylvania in Lansdowne, PA, in the 1950's and in the 1970's she took a job in sales at Gimbels at the Granite Run Mall ,where she worked until her 1986 retirement. Devoted to her sons, Mary was actively involved when they were young in SRA Baseball and she loved being a Den Mother for Cub Scouts. She opened her home to many friends, always making it the fun place to be. Mary was enthusiastic about the holidays, specifically Christmas, Easter, and July 4th. She was an avid reader and had a great sense of humor. Mary appreciated the beauty of nature and she adored animals. Loving both the beach and mountains, she enjoyed trips to Stone Harbor and the Poconos. Most of all, friends and family were most important to Mary and she cherished their get-togethers.
