Obituary of George M. Kau

George M. Kau, Retired Boeing Executive George Kau, 87, of Swarthmore passed away on November 26, 2015. He was the beloved husband of Peggy Kau. He is survived by his son Scott Holland (Vickie) and daughter Stefanie Williams. He was predeceased by his son Michael Kau. He was a devoted grandfather to Chelsea, Alexandra, Samantha, Victoria, Matthew and Sierra and could be seen cheering on and enjoying their many athletic, musical and artistic endeavors. Mr. Kau retired from The Boeing Company in 1994 as Vice President and Assistant General Manager of the Helicopter Division of Boeing’s Defense and Space Group. He was a 43 year veteran of Boeing, having started in Seattle where he worked on numerous commercial aircraft programs including the first 747. He transferred to Boeing’s Helicopter Division in Philadelphia in 1974 as Factory Manager and advanced to more senior managerial positions until his retirement. Mr. Kau served on the Board of Directors of Elwyn Institute and was Chairman of Elwyn Ball’s Espana Fantastica fundraiser. He was also on the Board of the Pennsylvania State Board of Vocational Rehabilitation. A member of the American Helicopter Society, Mr. Kau served as Director of its Northeast chapter. He was also active in the Army Aviation Association of America and the American Defense Preparedness Association. He served as Co-Chairman of the “Celebrity Waiters” fundraiser for the Delaware County branch of the Leukemia Society of America. Mr. Kau enjoyed surf fishing with his family in the Outer Banks where he had a summer home, and golfing at Edgmont Country Club where he recorded a hole in one on September 7, 2000. He was an avid gardener, do-it-yourselfer and reader (with a particular interest in Thomas Jefferson, JFK and today’s technology). Mr. Kau , a native of Deer Lodge, Montana, served in the United States Marine Corps from 1945 to 1949. He was a graduate of Executive Programs at the University of California, Berkeley and the University of Tennessee. Memorial Mass: Saturday, 10:30AM at the Church of St. John Chrysostom, 615 S. Providence Rd., Wallingford, PA 19086. Visitation: Saturday after 9:30AM at the church. Interment: Private In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Bernadine Center in Chester PA, Swarthmore Fire Company or Philabundance,
