REVEREND MONSIGNOR ANDREW J. HANLON 1941 - 2011 Reverend Monsignor Andrew J. Hanlon, Pastor Emeritus, Our Lady of Charity Parish, Brookhaven, died at Lankenau Hospital, Philadelphia, on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Monsignor Hanlon was born on December 18, 1941, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He is the son of the late Andrew J. Hanlon and the late Hilda Brittingham. Monsignor Hanlon attended Saint Margaret Parochial School and Monsignor Bonner High School, Drexel Hill, before entering Saint Charles Borromeo Seminary. Monsignor Hanlon was ordained on May 18, 1968, at the Cathedral Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Philadelphia, by His Eminence John Cardinal Krol. Monsignor served as Parochial Vicar at Saint Augustine Parish, Bridgeport, and Saint Hugh of Cluny Parish, Philadelphia. He served on the faculty of Roman Catholic High School, Philadelphia, from 1969 until 1984. He was appointed Pastor, Our Lady of the Rosary Parish, Philadelphia, in 1984 and in 1995 he was appointed Pastor, Our Lady of Charity Parish, Brookhaven. He was appointed Pastor Emeritus there on June 21, 2010. The service of the Transfer of the Body will be held at Our Lady of Charity Church, Brookhaven, on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at 4:00 PM, followed by a viewing. A Parish Mass will be celebrated at 7:00 PM. His Eminence Cardinal Justin Rigali will celebrate a Funeral Mass for Monsignor Hanlon at Our Lady of Charity Church, Brookhaven, on Monday, February 21, 2011, at 11:00 AM. A viewing will be held beginning at 9:00 AM. Concelebrating the Funeral Mass will be Reverend Monsignor Joseph P. Garvin, Reverend Gasper Genuardi, Reverend Edward J. Kelly, Reverend Monsignor Thomas A. Murray, and Reverend Edmond J. Speitel. Father Genuardi will be the homilist. SURVIVORS: NEPHEWS: John, III and his wife Selvette and James Doucette and his wife Heidi. NIECE: Jeanne Doucette.
