Obituary of Edward J. Olinchak

Edward J. Olinchak, age 73, died Thursday, September 13, 2012 at Crozer-Chester Medical Center, Upland, PA. Edward was born in Crum Lynne, PA the son of the late Adolph and Anna Petlikowski Olinchak, brother to the late Frances "Butchie" Olinchak and grandfather to the late Michael and Lauren Sladek. Edward was a lifelong resident of Crum Lynne, attended Ridley High School and played football for Ridley. Edward worked at Irvington Mills, Chester, PA, Eddystone Manufacturing Co., Eddystone, PA, Owens-Corning Fiberglass for 26 years, and Foamex Inc., Eddystone, PA until his retirement. In his younger years, he was a junior fireman at the Vauclain Firehouse in Crum Lynne, PA and a member of The Holy Name Society of St. Rose of Lima Church. Eddie was an avid fisherman and boater who enjoyed growing tomatoes in his vegetable garden and rooting for his favorite football teams, the Ridley Raiders and the Philadelphia Eagles. He loved going to Harrah's Casino and watching the horse racing. He loved spending summers with his beloved wife of 52years, Barbara, at their vacation home in Ocean View, DE., fishing Indian River Inlet, DE and swapping fish tales with whoever walked by. Eddie's strong work ethic, shift after shift, plus overtime for his family, could only be rivaled by his love of family. Family time was at the beach, digging for sandfleas, swimming in the ocean, surf fishing and spending time on his boat. He also loved traveling the eastern seaboard, and further to Las Vegas, NV, Canada and Hawaii, first by car with his wife, then by bus with friends. He was the mascot of the Wild Red Hats.
