Obituary of Joseph V. Byers
Joseph V. Byers (Bud) of Ocala, Florida died Saturday, December 21, 2024. He was 95 years old. He worked for Ford Motor Co. in their assembly plant in Metuchen, NJ for 42 years. After working in all departments on the line, he finished up his career there as chief mechanic in the executive garage.
When he was younger, Bud was active in the Masonic Lodge in Metuchen and also enjoyed square dancing with his wife of 66 years, Dolly. Together, when they weren’t dancing, they would travel to many islands and countries mostly on cruises. Bud was also a model railroading enthusiast. In his later years, Bud became very active in his church, Marion Oaks Community Congregational Church. His church became his second “family” and he was much beloved.
He is predeceased by the love of his life Dorothea (Dolly) and his dear sister Jeanne. He is survived by his younger brother Robert Byers, three children: Linda Sue DeVivo of Coconut Creek, FL, Judithann Mitchell of Havertown and Joseph W. Byers of Broomfield, CO and their spouses.He was blessed with 11 grandchildren and many more great grandchildren. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Internment will be private. A Memorial Service for Bud will be held on January 18, 2025 at Marion Oaks Community Congregational Church, 15050 SW 29th Terrace Road, Ocala, FL 34473. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Marion Oaks Community Congregational Church.
