Obituary of Raymond L. Massey

Raymond L Massey, 89, formerly of West Chester, PA, died on Wednesday, July 17, 2024. Ray graduated from Strath Haven High School in Wallingford, where he played football. He worked as a cook in West Chester, and later worked and lived at the Milliner Farm in Pocopson.

Ray loved working in the garden and playing with the children in his extended family. He was very knowledgeable on the subject of WWII.

He often talked about how much he loved his family. Most importantly, he was a follower of Jesus Christ and attended church regularly when he could.

He spent his final years at the Pocopson Home in Chester County.

Ray was the 10th of 11 children of William and Myrtle Simmons Massey. He was the last remaining family member of his generation. He was preceded in death by his brothers Robert, William, James, and Richard, and sisters Marian Miller,  Myrtle Van Demark, Pauline Wiser, Leona Black, Helen Zinszer, and Joan Hastings Lazinsky. He is survived by dozens of nieces and nephews, great- and great-great nieces and nephews,  two great-great-great nieces, and the Milliner family, with whom he lived for decades.

Visitation will be Saturday, Aug. 3rd, after 9:30 am at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Route #352) and Knowlton Rds, Middletown Twp, Media PA 19063.

The funeral service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 3rd, at 10:30 am at the funeral home. Pastor Mike Leon of the Community Church of Folsom will officiate.

Interment will follow at Lawn Croft Cemetery in Linwood, PA.
