Obituary of Joan D. Sheehan

Joan Dorothy Sheehan, age 80, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Saturday, January 27, 2024. Preceded in death by her parents Marius and Emma Picaud, her sister, Elizabeth Malone, and her beloved son, Paul Sheehan Jr.

Joan is survived by her devoted husband of 60 years, Paul Sheehan Sr., her sons Christopher Sheehan (Tina), and David Sheehan (Leslie), her daughter-in-law, Carolyn Sheehan, her five grandchildren, Abigail Rowe (Jacob), Olivia Chick (Jonathan), Christopher Sheehan, Alec Sheehan, and Amanda Sheehan – as well as countless other friends and family who she loved dearly.

Joan was born on February 6, 1943, in her beloved city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. As a young woman, she attended West Catholic High School along with her two sisters, Elizabeth and Louise, who were her best friends and partners-in-crime.

Throughout her life, Joan developed a passion for reading, cooking, and playing the penny slots at Harrah’s Casino. She was a rambunctious Phillies fan, an avid member of St. Francis de Sales Church, and a natural entertainer. Joan had a unique ability to captivate any room with her bubbly personality, impressive intellect and catalog of jokes that she could recite with impressive recall. Joan lived well, laughed often, and loved much— her friendship was a blessing to all she encountered.

Though we mourn this loss as family and friends, we rejoice in knowing that Joan is in the presence of the Almighty and is probably making God himself double over in laughter as she tells her stories to all of Heaven!

Visitation: Friday, February 9th from 10:00-10:45AM at the Church of St. Francis De Sales, 35 New Road, Aston, PA 19014.

Funeral Mass: Friday, February 9th at 11:00AM at the Church of St. Francis De Sales.

Interment: Calvary Cemetery, Conshohocken, PA.
