Obituary of Joseph A. Damico, Jr.

Joseph A. Damico, Jr., 90, of Media, PA, died on September 7, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 19, 1933, to Mary and Joseph Damico.

Joe, the most loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his five children, J. Andrew Damico, (Lisa), Mark D. Damico, (Jeanne), David R. Damico, (Melanie), Susan G. Hackett, (David), and Sarah D. Alles, (Brad) and eleven grandchildren, Tyler, Raleigh, Westin, Erin, Dixon, Samantha, and Luca Damico, Wyeth and Charlotte Hackett, Mary Jane and Molly Alles. He is predeceased by his beloved wife of 57 years, Ann (Dixon) Damico.

Upon graduation from Saint James High School in Chester, PA, Joe attended Georgetown University and Penn Law School. Joe's unwavering honesty and integrity earned him the trust and admiration of all who knew and worked with him. Joe's professional accomplishments with the law firm of Petrikin, Wellman, Damico, Brown & Petrosa are extensive, including his service as the solicitor for Middletown Township for 32 years. In later years, Joe was often told he should enjoy retirement. He never understood why he would leave a career that he enjoyed and in which he continued to make meaningful contributions. Fortunately, Joe continued practicing law until the last few months of his life when his health rapidly declined.

While he will be remembered in the community as a most highly respected attorney, his family will remember his devotion to Ann. Together, they set an example for how to live a life that was full of love, trust, hard work, as well as travel and fun with family and friends. When not working or spending time with Ann, Joe's most treasured moments were spent cutting the field, hunting, sailing, bicycling and body surfing in Ocean City, NJ, where he enjoyed time each and every summer, including this past summer where he celebrated his 90th birthday on the beach.

Known by those who loved him most as Joby, he will be forever remembered as an inspirational husband, father, grandfather, and friend. We are forever grateful for his love and devotion to each of us, and especially to Annie. We love you both!

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his visitation on Saturday, October 14th, from 9:30  to 10:45AM in the Church of St. Mary Magdalen, 2400 N. Providence Road, Media, PA 19063 followed by the funeral Mass at 11:00AM. Burial will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Magdalen School, 2430 N. Providence Road, Media, PA 19063.
