It was an honor and privilege to have Erma Buscaglia as part of our Glen Riddle family for so many years and our community will be a lot less "pretty" without her.
Erma was a character who was larger than life. She was our glamour girl and loved getting her hair done and would be considered naked without her lipstick and handbag. She loved to sing and was always front and center when we had entertainment and all of the entertainers knew her by name. She would often sing her favorite song, "I don't know why I love you like I do...." and would tell everyone she encountered that she was a professional singer. The only thing here that she loved more than music was BINGO, where she would sit in her favorite seat, day after day.
Though in the winter of her years, Erma still "had it" and had a gentleman friend soon after she arrived at Glen Riddle and this was at a time when the women outnumbered the men 5:1.
As her memory failed her in many ways, she always remembered and looked forward to the regular visits from her beloved nieces, Diane and Fran, and nephew and asked about them several times a day and took comfort in knowing that they would visit regularly without fail. She may not have had children, but she had the unwavering love and devotion of her family.
Though out of sight, Erma will remain with all who knew her in our hearts and our many memories.
In love and sympathy,
Lisa Fiora Grech
I remember frequent magical weekends spent with
Aunt Erma as a child…She was the fun aunt. My favorite memory was baking my first cake in her kitchen. Being no Betty Crocker then or now, the cake crumbled into pieces when removed from the pan.
Aunti made things right as usual. With her pretty manicured hands, she scrunched the cake back together, and said, “Look Fran, we have a crumb cake.”
On other weekends, she would take me to visit elderly neighbors, bringing them laughter and food. She was deeply religious, but funny, mischievous, and sassy. She loved vall of her nieces and nephews and never forgot a birthday. She loved animals and took in many stray cats and cared for them. As an adult, I would take her to her accountant who moved to South Jersey. She loved Atlantic City and the casinos and on many occasions we would make it a night. I remember how excited she was when she saw Regis, Susan Lucci, and even Paul Anka. Aunt Erma, I still smile when I think of you and you will live forever in my heart. I love you. Franni
