Obituary of John Scambia

John Scambia, age 90, of Brookhaven, PA, died on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.  John was born in Philadelphia, PA and was a graduate of South Philadelphia High School for Boys. John was a federal employee for over 40 years, retiring as the Directorate of Clothing & Textiles for Defense Logistics Agency, Philadelphia, PA in 1993.

John was a parishioner of the Church of Our Lady of Charity, Brookhaven, PA. 

He was a U.S. Army Veteran serving from 1953-1955, receiving the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal.  John was a 50 year devoted member of the American Legion Post #94, Brookhaven, PA. 

John was an active resident of the Borough of Brookhaven, where he served for 8 years on Brookhaven Council. He was also a member of the Nonresident Taxpayers Association. He served as President of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees until his death.

John enjoyed reading the newspaper daily.  He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be dearly missed.

Brother: Frank (Pat) Scambia

Grandson: Daniel (Alicia) Goldy

Great-Granddaughter: Savanah Rose Goldy

Visitation: Thursday, June 15th from 10:30-11:15AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rd., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service: Thursday, June 15th at 11:30AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Fernwood Mausoleum.
