Obituary of John B. Flynn, Jr.

 

John B. Flynn, Jr., “Chief” age 75, of Townsend. DE, formerly of Parkside, PA, died peacefully surrounded by his family on Thursday, May 4, 2023.

John was a 1966 graduate of St. James Catholic High School, where he was the Senior Class President.  He attended the University of Dayton in Ohio.  John was employed with Scott Paper Company from 1967 and retired in 2011 then known as Kimberly Clark.

John served as a Parkside Police Officer from 1973-1999, serving as Police Chief from 1984-1999 and was Fire Chief and past President of Parkside Fire Company.

John enjoyed boating, fishing, golfing and traveling.  He was an avid Eagles fan and was a season ticket holder for many years.   John was devoted to his family and cherished spending time with his children, grandchildren and his many friends.

 

Son of the late John B. and Ermelina Flynn, Sr.

 

Survivors:

Wife of 48 years: Theresa "Terri" Flynn

Children: John (Karen) Flynn, Coleen (Zach) Hillerson, Michael (Amanda) Flynn

Grandchildren: Ryan, Jackie, Adam, Carmen, Vera, Jett

Sister: Mary Jo (Bill) Boyer

Niece: Susan (Nick) Ferralli

Nephew: Brian (Kristen) Boyer

Also survived by several nieces and nephews

 

Visitation: Thursday, May 11th from 9:30-11:15AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds. Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

 

Family Sharing: Thursday, May 11th at 11:30AM at the funeral home.

 

Interment: St. Thomas the Apostle Cemetery.
