Obituary of James A. Smith

James A. Smith (formerly of Delaware County) passed away at his home on January 01, 2023, in Ormond Beach, Florida, at the age of 77. James (Jim) was born on April 13, 1945 to Albert Smith and Marion Fryer Smith in Chester, PA. Jim resided in Media, PA throughout his high school years and attended Massanutten Military Academy in Massachusetts. After graduating from the Military Academy, Jim was enlisted into the U.S. Air Force, where he served two tours during the Vietnam War, as an airplane mechanic. Jim was an avid airplane enthusiast and would become a private pilot in his later years. Jim worked in the automobile industry for over 30 years, throughout his adult career, in various positions, such as, service writer, service manager.

He was known for his sense of humor, love of animals and will be remembered for his love.

Jim is survived by his wife, Donna Smith (Mauk) of Ormond Beach, Florida; his two children, Jonathan Smith and partner, Melinda Schmid of Wilmington, Delaware; Jamie Levitan (Smith) and her husband David of Baltimore, Maryland; two step-children, Jennifer Maguire (Howe) and her husband Roger of Conestoga, PA; Robert Howe, Jr. and his wife Michelle of Philadelphia, PA; two grandsons, Jonathan Smith and Jack Smith, and six step-grandchildren: Justin Howe, Addison Howe; Samantha Maguire, Roger Maguire, Finley Maguire, and Zoey Schmid.

A Memorial Service will be held on Monday, January 23rd at 11:00AM at Chester Rural Cemetery.
