Obituary of Robert C. Burns, Jr.
Robert C. Burns, Jr.,
Robert Burns, age 65, a resident of Aston, PA died at home on Friday, December 2, 2022. He was born and raised in Media, PA. and was a lifelong resident of Delaware County. He attended Elwyn Institute for special education and employment training.
Robert was an avid Philadelphia 76ers fan who enthusiastically cheered the team. In addition to basketball, Robert’s hobbies included talking with friends on CB radio under the handle “Air Raid Siren” and listening to shortwave and local police/fire radio. He enjoyed visiting fire stations and encouraging community firefighters. Robert was a regular participant in Special Olympics, winning multiple medals in the basketball competition. Robert also enjoyed Camp Innabah in Spring City, PA for a weeklong summer retreat of swimming, outdoor activities, camping and making new friends.
Robert and his family are grateful for his caregivers from Community Interactions who provided him compassionate residential services for many years.
Son of the late Robert C. and Elizabeth Burns, Sr..
Survivors: Brothers, Matthew, Mark, John; and 8 nieces and nephews.
Visitation: Friday, December 9th from 9:30-10:30AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Funeral Mass: Friday, December 9th at 11:00AM at the Church of Our Lady of Charity, 231 Upland Rd., Brookhaven, PA 19015.
Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
