Obituary of Betty Jane Whitehead

Betty Jane Whitehead, 94, of Media, PA passed away peacefully at Granite Farm Estates on Monday, August 29, 2022. Betty was born in Woodsville, NH on September 12, 1927 to the late Raymond and Eda Mae (Hastings) Cnossen. She was married to the late Raymond Herbert Whitehead, Jr, for 68 years, until his passing in 2018. Betty is survived by her daughter, Debra (Charlie) Hamilton, and son, David (Linda) Whitehead. She is also survived by 6 grandchildren, Chip (Kristin) Hamilton, Mike Hamilton, Christina Hamilton, Matthew (Sandra) Whitehead, Heather Whitehead (Tom) Cosgrove, and Brian (fiancée Jill) Whitehead, as well as 5 great grandchildren: David and Jamie Hamilton, Bryce and Audrey Cosgrove, and Grace Whitehead. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and their families.

   Betty graduated from Edward F. Searles HS in Methuen, MA, then from Lasell Junior College in Auburndale, MA with an Associate degree in Art. She also attended Lesley College in Cambridge, MA and worked briefly as a kindergarten teacher, before becoming a full time homemaker.

   Betty enjoyed card games, especially bridge, reading, mini golf, needlework, and bowling. She loved to entertain her family and to decorate her house for the holidays. She was, also, especially fond of cats.

   A private celebration of Betty’s life will be held for her family. Interment will be at Edgewood Memorial Park in Glen Mills, PA.
