Obituary of Thelma J. Kloepfer

Thelma J. Kloepfer, age 97, a long time resident of Upland, PA, went to be the Lord on Thursday, February 18, 2021.

She was born, Thelma Jensen on June 8,1923 in Mears, Virginia at the home of her maternal grandmother. Raised on a farm in Middletown, PA, she was the second oldest of 8 children and attended high school in Media PA. Her family moved to Upland during her early twenties. Thelma often fondly remembered her time on the farm. Before she was married, she worked as a housekeeper and nanny, as well as, for the Scott Paper Company.

She married Henry C. Kloepfer in 1953 and it was her joy to be a housewife and mother for the rest of her life. Thelma was devoted to her family and her faith. She occupied her time with attending church, reading books, cooking wonderful meals, and enjoying visits with family and friends. She especially enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a familiar face to many customers at the Hill Street Laundromat  in Upland and the Media Laundromat where she worked part time while raising her children. A member of North Chester Baptist Church, Chester, PA and a former member of Garden City Chapel, Wallingford, PA; in her younger days, she loved attending Maranatha Church in Upper Darby, PA, as well.

She loved to be outside in the sunshine, enjoying her yard and her flowers and watching the birds. Thelma was a very friendly person, who loved to make new friends. She took pleasure in talking with anyone, even just a person walking by. Her friends, relatives and neighbors were always welcome to stop by for a cup of coffee anytime, and if they were hungry, she would feed them a meal as well. She was known for her warmth, kindness, and caring demeanor as well as her friendship and her faith. These things marked her as a person.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Henry C. Kloepfer who passed away in 1994; her daughters-in-law Diane Kloepfer (wife of David) and Maryann Kloepfer (wife of Karl); six siblings, her brothers, Milton Jensen and Preston Jensen, her sisters, Mildred Porter, Beatrice Cain, Mary Hoffman and Margaret Jensen.
