Obituary of Bertha Louise Aiken

Bertha Louise Aiken, age 98, of Springfield, PA, formerly of Paoli, PA, died Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at Springfield Rehab Senior & Nursing Facility. Bertha was born March 22, 1922, and was a graduate of Germantown High School, Class of 1940. Bert was a retired clerk from Lord & Taylor in Bala Cynwyd, Macy’s in Montgomery and Strawbridge’s in Willow Grove. She also worked for the Ralph Lauren Co. Bert was a member of the Girard College Alumni Wives Association. She also was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Germantown, PA, where she was active in the Women’s Association and with the choir. Bert loved animals and was a superb seamstress. Most of all, she cherished her family and was a beloved grandmother. Daughter of the late William F. and Blanche (Herbert) Smith, wife of the late Robert M. Aiken, Sr., mother of the late Robert M. Aiken, Jr. Survivors: Daughter: Ruth Ann Cato 4 Grandchildren and 3 Great-Grandchildren A date will be posted for Bert’s Memorial Service in the Spring of 2021.
