Obituary of Anne Marie Lindeborg

Anne Marie (Berg) Lindeborg, formerly of West Hartford and Farmington, CT, died on March 11, 2020 in Media, PA following complications from pneumonia. She and her identical twin Greta Berg were born in West Hartford on February 13, 1924 to the late Axel Berg and Anna Pettersson Berg. She was a 1942 graduate of William Hall High School, where she captained all three girls’ sports teams that then existed. She remained athletic and adventuresome throughout her long life. After high school, Anne Marie went immediately to work at the Travelers Insurance Company, where she was employed from 1942-1956, and again from 1974 to her retirement in 1986. She moved to Pennsylvania in 2010. Throughout her life she spent as much of her summer as possible on Cedar Island in Clinton, CT, where she swam, fished, sailed, and enjoyed the company of family and lifelong friends, especially the Schram-Mitchell family. Anne Marie was a member of the Scandinavian Cultural Society of Greater Hartford and immensely proud of her Swedish heritage. She was also a member of the First Church of Christ, Congregational in Farmington for many years, and an active volunteer there. She was an advocate for the physically and developmentally disabled, both on behalf of her twin sister and the many patients and families she met over the years. She loved music, from Mozart to Gilbert and Sullivan; the UConn women’s basketball team; and most of all, caring for others. She is predeceased by her husband John Lindeborg; her brother and sister-in-law John and Elizabeth Berg; her sister and brother-in-law Helen and Alfred Atwell; her twin sister Greta Berg; and many dear friends. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Ruth Lindeborg and Leonard Busby; her son and daughter-in-law Carl and Judy Lindeborg; her grandchildren John (and wife Jackie) Lindeborg, Stephanie Lindeborg, and Julia Busby; and many much-loved nieces, nephews, and their children. The family plans to hold a memorial service at the First Church of Christ, Congregational, 75 Main Street, Farmington, CT when public health conditions permit (anticipating late spring/ early summer; a date will be added to the online obituary when confirmed). Donations in her memory can be made to Special Olympics- Connecticut.
