Obituary of Edward A. Bumby
Edward A. Bumby, age 88, of Middletown Twp., PA, and formerly of Montrose, PA, died Sunday, February, 23rd at home with his loving wife, Marilyn of 63 years, by his side. Born in Wilkesbarre, PA, Ed had been a resident of Long Island, NY, before retiring to Montrose, PA, where he built his log cabin home, of which he was so proud. Mr. Bumby was a graduate of Brooklyn Polytech, where he obtained his Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, and later received two Masters Degrees. Mr. Bumby was a Lt. Commander in the Naval Reserves for more than 30 years. Ed worked for Grumman Aircraft for many years, designing computers. Ed had designed the computer that enabled the X29, Experimental Aircraft to fly.
Survived by his wife, Marilyn McDonald Bumby and a brother, Rev. Norman Bumby.
Funeral Services were held Wednesday, February 26th at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd.
Interment will take place at Holy Name of Mary Church Cemetery, Montrose, PA.
