Obituary of Leroy Bruce Hundley
Leroy “Bruce” Hundley, age 92, of West Grove, PA, died Wednesday, January 1, 2020. He was born in Chester, PA, to the late John C. and Dorothy (Rieck) Hundley and was the oldest of 8 children. Bruce lived in Virginia until he was 16 years old. In 1944, at the age of 17, he went in the US Navy, serving during WWII on the LSM (R) 527. Mr. Hundley served with pride as a Seaman 1st Class and was honorably discharged in 1946.
Before the war, he was employed with Scott Paper and after the war he returned to work, where he met his wife Gloria Philips. He was employed for 43 years, retiring in 1987 as an Engineer.
Mr. Hundley was a parishioner of the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle and he was a former parishioner of St. Roberts Catholic Church, Chester, PA.
Bruce enjoyed hunting and the Atlantic City Casinos. He was a loving husband, devoted son, father, brother, uncle, friend and patriot. He will be missed by many who called him Bruce.
Husband of the late Gloria Phillips Hundley, who died in 2008, brother of the late Wayne, Shirley, Illa, Nellie, John and Nancy.
Survivors:
Sons: Wayne Hundley of Bear, Delaware and Victor (Anne) Hundley of Chester County, PA.
Brother: Alan Cornwall
Cousin: Art Rieck
Also survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Visitation: Wednesday, January 8th from 9:15 - 10:15AM at the Church of St. Thomas the Apostle, 430 Valleybrook Rd., Glen Mills, PA 19342.
Funeral Mass: Wednesday, January 8th at 10:30AM at the Church of St. Thomas The Apostle.
Interment with Military Honors in the adjoining Church Cemetery.
