Obituary of Richard P. Hess

Richard P. Hess, age 65, died on Thursday, December 28, 2017.  Born April, 1952 in Ridley Park, PA, Richard was a resident of Middletown Township his entire life.  Richard was in special education programs at Rose Tree Media School District and then graduated from the Davidson School at Elwyn in 1971.  He worked in sheltered workshops, The ARC of Delaware County, Upland, PA, and the Kevin Dugun Center in Elwyn, PA.  He later became involved with many other programs at Elwyn Institute, until June of this year.  Richard was a lifelong member of Calvary Episcopal Church (now recognized as Resurrection Episcopal Church), where he often served as an usher.  He was a 30-year scout, participating in Order of the Arrow Boy Scouts and Explorer Post for special needs for kids and adults in Lansdowne, PA.  Richard enjoyed sports, following the Eagles, Phillies and Notre Dame Football.

Despite his disabilities and various illnesses throughout his life, Richard was able to take many trips throughout the US and Canada.  He was a gentle person, who was loved and will be missed by his family and friends.  

Son of the late Anna Baumert Hess.

Brother: Edward W. Hess, Jr. of Middletown Twp., PA

Aunt: Margaret Baumert of Sharon Hill, PA

Also survived by many cousins, nieces and nephews

Visitation: Wednesday, January 3rd, from 6:00-8:00PM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rd., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063 and Thursday, January 4th from 10:00-10:45AM at Resurrection Episcopal Church, 667 Mount Rd. Aston, PA 19014.

Funeral Services: Burial requiem Thursday, January 4th at 11:00AM at Resurrection Episcopal Church, 2133 Mount Road, Aston, PA 19014.

Interment: Adjoining church cemetery.
