Obituary of William J. Nixon

William J. Nixon, age 92, of Aston, PA, died Thursday, December 14, 2017 at home. Born in Chester, PA, he had been a longtime resident of Aston Township, PA.

Bill was a graduate of Chester High School Class of 1943. Bill was a Veteran of the US Army having served in the Infantry and Air Corp. Mr. Nixon fought in the Battle of the Bulge, where he was awarded the Purple Heart.

Mr. Nixon was employed by General Electric Co., in Philadelphia in the Swgr Division as a design draftsman for 36 years, until his retirement in 1982.

Mr. Nixon was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Concordville, PA.

He was a member and Past Master and Past Secretary of Penn Lodge # 709 F&AM., where he had been a member since 1947. Bill was a member of Penn Forest #21 TCL, Chester Royal Arch Chapter #258, where he was Past High Priest, Riblah Council #59, Royal and Select Masons, where he was Past Thrice Illustrious Master, Saint Alban Commandery #47, Knights Templar, where he was Past Commander and Chester Commandery #66, Knight York Cross of Honor, Philadelphia Conclave, Knights of the Red Cross of Constantine, Penn Council #13, Knights Masons of the USA, Nur Shrine, A.A.O. N.M.S. of Wilmington DE, and the Shrine Club of Delaware.

Bill was a member of the American Legion Post Killian-Miles Post #87, Veteran of Foreign Wars, Paul J. Richle Post #9465 and a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, Francis Marker Chapter #88.

Bill is survived by his wife, Ann (DeLaCour) Nixon; one son, James John Nixon and a daughter, Janice Ann (Joseph) Granauro.  Also survived by Grandchildren: Aurora (Raymond) Diggins, Ian (Meghan) Giberson and Rhiannon Giberson. Great-grandchildren, Samara, Ayden, Roxanne and Ava.

Visitation:  Monday evening, December 18th, after 7:00PM. Masonic Service at 8:00PM, and Tuesday morning after 10:00AM at Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.

Funeral Service:  Tuesday, December 19th at 11:00AM at the funeral home.

Interment: Lawn Croft Cemetery.
