Obituary of Alex Michaliszyn, Sr.
Alex Michaliszyn of Middletown Twp. PA, formerly of Brookhaven, PA, born May 4, 1932 in Pittsburgh, PA, passed away in the company of family on Wednesday March 15, 2017.
Al founded AMF Auto Clinic in Brookhaven, PA in 1961 from which he retired in 1999. He built his business on his core beliefs in honesty and integrity. The business is currently run by his son and grandsons with the same dedication.
He was a founding member of the Brookhaven Jets Football program, and a continuous supporter of Teener League Baseball in Brookhaven, PA. Al was very involved in the Brookhaven community and all youth programs.
Mr. Michaliszyn enlisted in the Army in 1950- 1953 and served in the Korean War as an Equipment Technician, earning several distinguished medals for his contribution to the effort.
Al was very involved with the Knights of Columbus and their charitable functions throughout the years.
Al was an avid bowler and golfer, and played bridge, participating well into retirement. His free time was spent with his family and friends camping, hunting and enjoying the beach with his metal detector. A self-taught musician, Al enjoyed playing many instruments. After retirement, he and his wife, Jean explored the US in their RV.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Frances Jean and son Robert Alan.
Survivors:
Children, Elizabeth (Dennis) Cramer, Diane (Thomas) Bienkowski, Alex Jr.(Cathy), and Michael (Jane) and eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Al's faithful caregivers who cared for him the past five years.
Funeral Service: Monday, March 20th at 11:30AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Ltd., Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Visitation: Monday, March 20th after 9:30AM at the funeral home.
Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery
