Condolences
Dianna, Peter and Michael - Draw strength from your family and friends. They will be the ones you can count on the most to help at this time. My sister experienced a similiar loss and it was family and friends who I feel brought her the most comfort. I know this will help.
Andi was truly a beautiful woman in every way and always seemed to be evolving into a higher level of seeking and knowing. I will miss her voice, her innocence and that amazing smile. My heartfelt sorrow goes out to her beloved family and friends.
Andi spent two glorious July's with us at the Bang on a Can summer music festival at MASS MoCA in 2008 and 2009. She was an enormous talent and a lovely person, and our lives are richer for knowing her and making music with her. Our love and healing energy go out to her family and her community. - Bang on a Can
Andi was a beautiful and talented friend. I am so sad to hear she has passed. I had the immense privilege of playing cello next to her many times - at Bang on a Can, in the recording studio, alongside dancers in New York City. I send my deepest condolences to the family. Andi, I will always remember you.
i worked with andi when she performed with my group TRANSIT New Music in new york city. the repertoire was extremely challenging and we all put in extra time working our tails off to pull it all together with great success. aside from being a sublime performer, andi was such a kind person and a pleasure to make music with and be around. deepest condolences to family and friends-- the music community shares in your grief.
Dear Diana, Peter & Michael,
Andi's sweetness and kindness will ever remain in my memory. It was always such a pleasure to have her involved in our plays at Darlington. Our heartfelt sympathy goes out to you at this sad time.
With love, Pat & Rich
Andi, I will always remember your beautiful soul and smile, and I will always cherish the times we had together.
We met in Amorgos, for our dear friends' wedding. I still remember her for her great smile, her great heart and her great sense of humour. Andi, I may not have known you well, but I immediately saw you for the person you were. Radiant. You are sorely missed. R.I.P.
I met Andi at Rice and later she spent some time visiting in our home in Cocoa Beach, Fl. Her smile lit up the room and even in our short time with her she was unforgettable.
What a terrible loss! Landra and I send our love to you and your family.
Bill
Dear Diana and family and Jane,
I am so very sorry for your loss! I did not know Andi, but I do know that you are a wonderful loving family! Your pain has to be unbearable and I am praying for comfort for all of you.
Grief is not to be denied at a moment like this. Given its due, it illuminates the importance of the love of family and friends. Diana and Peter, Michael and Jane, Sue and I share your sorrow, but remember the wonderful shared moments, and Andi's beautiful smile and tone.
Andrea Hemmenway,
You had such a long, broad shadow in the orchestra pit. I was always far behind you, watching in admiration among the struggling second violins, and fascinated by the elegant, restrained voice of your viola that sang the black, quiet songs of people who were alone. Later, I heard of your journeys through Greece in your musical itineraries that relayed the brief, gypsy existence of music from forgotten rituals. I sincerely felt that your world was assured, and complete in its understated beauty: eternal despite its fugitive effulgence.
To die at this age...
To disappear...
Andrea, I did not know you beyond the scent of rosin mixed with coffee, and the luxurious spectacle of dark ringlets curtaining your pale skin.
But I hope you had a good time, if short.
