Condolences
My Richard, Ricky-baby, my terms of endearment for you. Rick it is hard coming into work, going into your office knowing that you will not be returning. I've cried so many tears with the shock of it all. You were always the kindest, sweetest person who lifted me so many times. We talked about everything from the loves in our lives, children, grandchildren, your nephews who you loved dearly, and the smile that came on your face every time you were about to take them fishing. I know you loved them and I know they returned that love ten fold. This week I've heard so many kind words from students you've taught, to all the students you helped become "Majors". It was your influence and passion that persuaded them to come over to the "Rock" side. I will miss you Ricky-baby. --Love, Shelah
I always loved your story about when you and Dave were kids and the budding geologists you were, completely ruined your mom's marble counter top because you wanted to see the reaction of acids on carbonates. I always loved that story and often shared it when teaching my students about carbonates. You were always full of wonderful stories to help your students relate what they learned in class to the world around them. We're all blessed for having had the honor of knowing you. You will be missed!
My heartfelt condolences go out to Mrs Valentino,Dave and Mike.Rick was one of the kindest unique people i have ever met.Our love of music brought us in contact and all the fun times we had will never be forgotten.Hanging out in the backyard till all hours of the night just talking and learning a great deal from Rick will be treasured.Rick you will be missed.
People MATTERED to Rick, and they knew it in their marrow, and would have taken a bullet for him. I will never forget the late night talks about philosophy, science, the Replacements, you name it. And the humor that made you think your spleen would rupture. Wherever you are now, they better appreciate it. God willing I'll join you someday. I love you brother. Billy
Shocked and saddened to hear of this. I have many fond memories of hanging out with Rick and his brothers through my juvenile years. Whether it was fishing, hiking, camping, hanging out at five points or just drinking beers in the woods with the Aston crew. My condolences go out to the entire family whom I've known for many years. R.I.P. Rick
