Don was like a father to me when my own past. Him and Florence gave me a safe place to stay and included me in every great childhood memory I have. I learned from them both how to parent what it meant to be loved and how to give love in return. Donald also showed me that you have a voice and you use that voice to protect the ones you love. Any one who every played outside on 4th st growing up can tell you he used his voice plenty of times if you were foolish enough to drive to fast when the kids were playing outside. My heart is heavy for his family but my life was truly blessed to be even a small part time member of his amazing family.

My prayers are with you at this difficult time.

I worked with Don at Penn State. We had coffee every morning in my office. We talked about his dogs, nascar and his family. Every time I eat a peach, I think of Don. My condolences to Don's family. Will miss our breakfast meeting with the IT Department.
