When you lose someone like a grandfather, it's hard to put into words the emotions that run through you and the grief you have to wade through. So I write my feelings out.
To my loving Pops, who has held my heart and my hand for so long:
Goodbye forever
Mismatched footprint paths up sandy beaches
Heat soaked skies with smiles and belly laughter
Tricycle racing in tiny circles on cold tiled floor
Stories filled from bygone eras, lessons weaved throughout
Slinkies tumbling down carpeted steps like a waterfall
Cassette player music filled with delight of silly songs
Newspaper crinkling in sunshine spilled rooms, while caring eyes look on
Tomatoes for the ripping, aromas from the garden swirling through the air
From first steps, until final steps
From first words, until final words
From first breaths, until final breaths
Hands held, smiles shared, miles stones celebrated, love shown, and all between
Life was full
Goodbye forever,
Or until we meet again.
Love you always Pops
