Obituary of Joan D. Toomey

Joan D. Toomey (nee Anthony), age 91, of Aston, PA, died on Saturday, June 13, 2026 at Riddle Memorial Hospital. Joan was born in Chester, PA, and graduated from Sharon Hill High School.

Joan loved spending time with her three sons: Michael, Robert, and David. While the boys were growing up, she actively participated in the Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts. Joan was a charter member of the Aston Senior Citizens Association.

She enjoyed volunteering as a teacher's aide. Joan also volunteered for Meals on Wheels at Aston Community Center. Joan loved baking treats for her friends and family. Sewing and crocheting were also some of her favorite hobbies. There was nothing Joan enjoyed more than spending time with her family.

Joan was preceded in death by her parents (Howard and Annie Anthony), husband (Robert M. Toomey), son (Robert Patrick Toomey), grandsons (Robert Patrick Toomey, Jr., and Chad Shifflett), and siblings (Jack and Eddie Anthony and Ann Fiduk).

Sons: Michael H. Toomey and David J. Toomey

Grandchildren: Daniel Toomey, Kyle Toomey, Joey Bruton and Danielle Shifflett

Great Grandchildren: Julia Trei, Aubrey Trei, Nicholas Shifflett, and Jackson Shifflett
