Obituary of John E. Berry
John E. Berry, age 77, peacefully passed on Friday, June 12, 2026 surrounded by family and friends after a three and half year battle with pancreatic cancer. He is survived by his loving wife of forty-four years, Janet Berry, devoted son, Brian Berry (Laura), and granddaughter, Morgan Berry. He is also survived by his siblings, Lester Berry (Margaret), Richard Berry, Kim Shur (Mike), Sharon Browne, Mark Berry (Roberta), and many nieces and nephews.
A graduate of Penncrest High School, John worked as a meatcutter for Acme, until his retirement. He was a former member of the Middletown Fire Co., the UFCW Local 152 and proud member of the NRA. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and archery. In his earlier days, he enjoyed riding his motorcycle, skiing, and traveling with friends.
A lifelong baseball fan, John played softball for the fireman’s league and in an over-40s league as well. His favorite team was the Philadelphia Phillies. In retirement, his favorite retreat was the family cabin, and he would fill his hours fishing in Kettle Creek and dining at Deb’s Cross Fork Inn.
John lived his last years to the fullest doing what he loved. He adored his precious granddaughter and being her Pop Pop.
He will dearly missed by all who had the pleasure to know him.
Visitation: Friday, June 19th after 10:00AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Funeral Service: Friday, June 19th at 11:00AM at the funeral home.
Interment will be private.
