Obituary of Wayne J. Calloway
Wayne J. Calloway, age 78, of Aston, PA, died on Thursday, May 1, 2025. Wayne was born on January 2, 1947, in Chester, PA. He was a graduate of Sun Valley High School, Class of 1965. Wayne was a truck driver with Gretz Beer Distributors for 30 years before retiring in 2006.
He was a devoted parishioner of the Church of St. Joseph, Aston, PA. Wayne was a U.S. Army Veteran and served two years in the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion #951, Ogden, PA, and the American Legion Post #926, Aston, PA.
Wayne loved his family, his country and his Catholic faith.
Wayne enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He especially loved hosting holiday parties and backyard barbecues. He loved cooking crabs and making his famous crab soup.
He was an avid fan of the Notre Dame football team and enjoyed traveling to South Bend Indiana to support his favorite college team.
Wayne loved fishing, playing shuffleboard and horseshoes. He played and coached softball for many years in the Marcus Hook area.
Wayne will be deeply missed by all his friends and family.
He was the son of the late Linwood "Skip" and Concetta "Jean" (Loretto) Calloway; Step-Father of the late Anthony Smith. Uncle of the late Skip Benoit.
Survivors:
Wife of 39 years: Fran Calloway
Sisters: Nancy (Donald) Outten and Sandra (Philip) Benoit. Nephew Glen Outten (Nikki) and niece Gina Madrid (Dan).
Step-Children: Kelly Ernst, Kimberly Patterson, William N. (Athena) Ernst
Also survived by 12 Grandchildren and 18 Great-Grandchildren.
Visitation: Wednesday, May 7th from 6:00-8:00PM and Thursday, May 8th from 9:00-10:15AM at the Minshall Shropshire-Bleyler Funeral Home, Middletown (Rte. #352) & Knowlton Rds., Middletown Twp., Media, PA 19063.
Funeral Mass: Thursday, May 8th at 11:00AM at the Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Rd., Aston, PA 19014.
Interment: Mt. Hope Cemetery.
