Obituary of David A. Hamilton
David A. Hamilton, age 72, of Aston, PA, died peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022 at home surrounded by his loving family. Dave was a graduate of Sun Valley High School, Class of 1968.
For decades, Dave was a proud Chief Warrant Officer for the U.S. Army and the PA National Guard. As well as being a flight instructor and Chinook pilot for the PA National Guard, Dave also served his country during the Vietnam War. He piloted the CH-47 Chinook in the U.S. Army, where he earned several campaign and service medals, including the Bronze Star. He also was employed as a Metallurgist with Sun Oil Company up until his retirement.
Dave was dedicated to his family. For years, he volunteered as a coach for his daughters’ Aston A.A. softball league and enjoyed sharing in any activities that he could with his family. He never missed the annual family vacation to Lake Webb in Weld, Maine and lovingly referred to it as his “happy place” for “peace and tranquility”. His nieces and nephews referred to him as “Wonderful Uncle Dave” after his ‘training’ and encouragement to do so. Dave was also well traveled, having been to 49 out of the 50 states. When his daughters proposed a trip to the 50th state, Idaho, he insisted that he leave it unfinished so there would always be a trip to plan. Dave was an avid Flyers fan and watched every game. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Son of the late Herbert E. and Mary ‘Bette’ Elizabeth (Carroll) Hamilton, Jr., brother of the late Susan Brennan and predeceased by a loving aunt with whom Dave had a special relationship, Nancy Bristow.
