Obituary of Gordon W. Douglas

Gordon W. Douglas, age 93, of Broomall, PA, formerly of Springfield, PA and Swarthmore, PA, died Wednesday, June 7, 2017. Gordon graduated from Swarthmore High School and Swarthmore College with a degree in Engineering. Mr. Douglas served stateside with the US Army Air Corp., during WWII. Gordon was a Sales Engineer with Robert Arnold Associates of Philadelphia for more than 35 years. Gordon was a member of Princeton Presbyterian Church, where he was a member of the Session. Mr. Douglas was a Scout Master with Springfield Troop 419, and was a proud father that his four sons became Eagle Scouts. Gordon played lacrosse for Swarthmore College and was an enthusiastic fan of football. Throughout his sons' childhood, Gordan was a baseball coach with Springfield Athletic Association. Mr. Douglas was involved in projects that enriched the community and will be dearly missed. Son of the late James and Hallie Hulbert Douglas, II., husband of 64 years to the late Wilma S. Sibley Douglas, the love of his life that he met September 23rd 1945, while he served in Memphis Tennessee. Survivors: Children: Al (Rachel), Steve (Christine), Jake (Regina) and Chris (Nancy) Douglas Also survived by 5 loving grandchildren Funeral Service: Monday, June 12th at 11:00AM at Princeton Presbyterian Church, 933 Baltimore Pike, Springfield, PA 19064. Visitation: Monday, June 12th after 10:00AM at the church. Interment: Valley Forge Memorial Gardens.
