Obituary of John J. Bury

John J. Bury, age 80, of Media, PA, died Saturday, December 31, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family. John received his associate's degree from Delaware County Community College. John was a Chief Petty Officer for 22 years, with the US Navy, serving during the Vietnam War. He was deployed 4 times to Vietnam and served on the Sacramento as well as the San Pablo and Ponchatoula. After retiring from the Navy, Mr. Bury taught at the Williamson College of the Trades, and the Westtown School. Mr. Bury was a devoted retired United States Navy Veteran, who continued to be actively involved through the Media VFW Post #3462, Vietnam Veterans of America and a staunch advocate for the Blue Water Vietnam Veterans. John also worked tirelessly on campaigning for Joe Sestack for both Congress and the Senate. John was a parishioner of the Church of St. Francis de Sales, Lenni, PA. He loved nature and feeding the birds. John was an avid hunter, lover of fishing and traveling. Most of all, he was devoted to his family and cherished spending time together. He was the son of the late John J. and Victoria (Fudala) Bury. Survivors: Wife of 43 years: Catherine M. (Reilly) Bury Children: Jennifer, Jason, David Bremer, Tammy Bremer and Susan Bremer- May Five Grandchildren and Five Great-Grandchildren Brother: Richard (Carol) Bury In Laws: Marie (the late Harry), Maureen (the late Charles), the late William and Maureen, Anne (the late Andy), and Gene (Eileen) Also survived by nieces and nephews Funeral Mass: Monday, January 9th at 11:00AM at the Church of Nativity BVM, 30 East Franklin Street, Media, PA 19063. Visitation: Monday, January 9th from 9:30AM- 10:45AM at the church. Interment will be private at a later date at: Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to: the Vietnam Veterans of America at www.vva.org or Disabled Veterans at www.dav.org
