Obituary of Timothy J. Johnsen

Timothy James Johnsen, died at home in Media, PA on November 19, 2016. Born in Summit, NJ, he spent his happy childhood and teen years in Centreville, VA and Littleton, CO. Tim enjoyed all sports, especially soccer and skiing. He loved the theatre, and was very at home on stage, acting and performing his music and was a founding member of the Black Souls Band. Everyone who knew Tim, knew his passion for music, especially the music of the Grateful Dead and Phish, but he also appreciated Musical Theatre and all types of music. Tim is survived by his father, Kenneth L. Johnsen of Media, PA, his mother, Betsy Johnsen Wilkinson of East Falls, Philadelphia, PA, his lifelong best friend and sister, Meghan Johnsen Pelle and his brother-in-law, Tom Pelle. Tim is survived by his loving Aunts, Kathleen (Bill) Van Sciver, Eileen Wilkinson, Judy Geoghegan (Kip Crawford), Kathleen (Bruce) Cowden. Additionally, Tim is survived by his Uncle and Godfather, Jim Wilkinson and his Aunt Mary Wilkinson and his Aunt and Uncle, Bill and Donna Lucas. Tim was loved by his 9 first-cousins, Marty and Jim Ward, Sarah Medina, Bill Van Sciver, Jim, Patrick and Mary Wilkinson, and Colleen and Jack Geoghegan. Tim is also survived by his devoted and faithful girlfriend, Sarah Wertheimer, and his Blood Brother, Tanner Moxcey. Tim was predeceased by his paternal grandparents, Lea and Len Johnsen of Media, PA, his maternal grandparents, Jim and Betty Wilkinson of Philadelphia, PA, and his loyal Uncle, John Geoghegan. A Mass in celebration of Tim's life will be held on Saturday, December 3rd, at 1:00PM at St. Raymond of Penafort Church, 1350 E. Vernon Road, Philadelphia, PA 19150. Friends may visit with the family before Mass, starting at noon. In lieu of flowers, and this would be very important to Tim, donations to the following organizations would honor Tim and his desire to help both those struggling like he did, as well the youth of today, who have the chance to make the world a better place. Interment will be private at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery
