Obituary of James E. Conway

James E. Conway, age 93, of Aston, PA, died Tuesday, November 8, 2016. He was born in Dunmore, PA, the son of the late James G. and Mary L. Conway. During World War II, he served in the U.S. Navy on a landing ship in the Pacific Theater. James was a graduate of Dunmore High School and the University of Scranton, majoring in Chemistry. Following graduation, he worked at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard Laboratory, for more than 40 years, serving as a chemist, chief chemist and finally as laboratory superintendent, retiring in 1986. Mr. Conway did purchasing for the Chester-Jensen Company in Chester, PA, for 23 years, retiring in 2010. Mr. Conway was a former member of the Catholic War Veterans. He served as an usher at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Sharon Hill, PA, for many years, where he resided, until moving to Aston, PA, in 2005. He was preceded in death by his brother Frank of Hobe Sound, Florida and his brother Edward of Albrightsville, PA. Survivors: Wife of 65 years: Jean M. (Nee Quinn) Conway Children: James J. (Donna) of Aston, PA, Michael F. (Marianne) of Brookhaven, PA and Mary Gander (Edward) of Morton, PA Grandchildren: Jonathan, Scott, Meghan, Michael, Brian and Ashley Great Grandson: Brooks Conway Cousin: Margaret Conway of Jessup, PA Also survived by nieces and nephews Funeral Mass: Monday, November 14th at 10:00AM at the Church of St. Joseph, 3255 Concord Road, Aston, PA 19014. Visitation: Monday, November 14th after 9:00AM at the church. Interment: SS. Peter & Paul Cemetery.
